BBC drama This City Is Ours provided a £9m boost to the local Liverpool economy, according to the Liverpool Film Office.
The series from Left Bank Pictures, creators of The Crown, received investment from the Liverpool Film Office via the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s LCR Production Fund, launched by Mayor Steve Rotheram in 2019.
The drama filmed for approximately 17 weeks filming in the Liverpool City Region. According to the film office, the production generated and safeguarded 300 direct, indirect and induced FTE jobs for local people while also supporting 17 trainees into industry – as well welcoming two apprentices from the Film Office.
This City Is Ours is created by Liverpool-based writer Stephen Butchard, whose credits include The Good Mothers and The Last Kingdom and stars Sean Bean as Ronnie Phelan alongside James Nelson-Joyce, Jack McMullen, Hannah Onslow and Julie Graham, alongside Kevin Harvey, Mike Noble, Bobby Schofield, Darci Shaw, and Stephen Walters.
Simon Maloney of Peaky Blinders, and I May Destroy You produces. Executive producers are Andy Harries, Rebecca Hodgson and Sian McWilliams for Left Bank Pictures, Stephen Butchard and Saul Dibb, and Jo McClellan and Sami El Hadi for the BBC.
