First look at Sky's 'Amadeus' from 'Black Doves' Joe Barton starring Will Sharpe

Production on the series took place in Budapest, doubling the Hungarian city for 18th century Vienna.

Sky has revealed the first look at Will Sharpe as musical prodigy Wolfgang Mozart in the series Amadeus from Black Doves' creator Joe Barton.

The series also stars Paul Bettany as envious court composer Antonio Salieri, and Gabrielle Creevy as Constanze Weber, Mozart’s fiercely loyal wife.

The five episode series is based on Peter Shaffer’s stage play, and was filmed in Budapest, doubling the Hungarian city for 18th century Vienna, Austria. Production services were provided by Mid Atlantic Films.

Also starring in the series are Rory Kinnear as Emperor Joseph, Lucy Cohu as Cecilia Weber, Jonathan Aris as Leopold Mozart, Ényì Okoronkwo as Da Ponte, Jessica Alexander as Katerina, Hugh Sachs as Von Strack, Paul Bazely as Von Swieten, Rupert Vansittart as Rosenberg, Anastasia Martin as Aloysia Weber, Nancy Farino as Josepha Weber, Olivia-Mai Barrett as Sophie Weber, Viola Prettejohn as Princess Elizabeth, and Jyuddah Jaymes as Franz Süssmayr.

Amadeus is produced by Two Cities Television (part of STV Studios) in association with Sky Studios. Megan Spanjian is executive producer for Sky Studios. Michael Jackson and Stephen Wright are executive producers for Two Cities Television.

The series executive producer is John Griffin. Julian Farino and Alice Seabright will serve as directors. Barton, Sharpe, Bettany and Farino also serve as executive producers. Seabright also serves as co-executive producer.
