‘One Battle After Another', ‘Marty Supreme' earn top LMGI awards

Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) honoured film and television at the group’s 13th annual awards in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Warner Bros’ motion picture awards category winner One Battle After Another directed by Paul Thomas Anderson shot across California’s Humboldt County, Sacramento, Stockton, Eureka, Arcata, and San Diego, and in El Paso, Texas. A24’s winner Marty Supreme from Josh Safdie filmed in New York City, Greater New York, the Hudson Valley, New Jersey, and Tokyo, Japan.

Television winners included Apple’s Pluribus, which filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Montana, Nevada, and Spain; Prime Video’s Fallout, which shot in California’s Dumont Dunes, Mojave Desert, Antelope Valley, and Santa Clarita; and Netflix’s Black Rabbit, which filmed around New York City including Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission received the Outstanding Film Commission/Office Award for One Battle After Another.

The awards ceremony and reception took place at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica, California, on Saturday (August 22).

Showrunner Vince Gilligan received the Eva Monley Award for his dedication to storytelling through location, reflected in productions including Pluribus, The X-Files, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, El Camino,

Production designer Jeannine Oppewall presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran location manager Mike Fantasia, whose career spans more than 30 years working on films like Top Gun: Maverick, Killers Of The Flower Moon, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The Association of Film Commissioners International executive director Claire Brooks accepted the Trailblazer Award on behalf of the group in honour of “more than 50 years of leadership advancing film commissions worldwide”. The Environmental Media Association received the Humanitarian Award for advancing sustainable production across film and television.
