Ventana Sur is to launch Club del Mate, a new industry section modelled on the Cannes film market’s Producers Network.

Club Mate is aimed at strengthening co-production links among Ibero-American producers and expanding their connections with the international industry.

The programme will make its debut at the 2026 edition of Ventana Sur, running November 30-December 4 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

It will bring together producers from across Ibero-America for a series of professional meetings and networking activities designed to encourage new partnerships and international co-productions.

Club del Mate marks an expansion of Ventana Sur’s relationship with Cannes’ Marché du Film, which co-organises the market with Argentina’s INCAA and Uruguay’s ACAU national film bodies.

Club del Mate will target mid-career and established industry professionals with at least three released projects, including one released within the past three years.

Applicants will be selected according to their production credits and with an emphasis on geographical diversity and representation from different sectors of the Ibero-American audiovisual industry. Applications are open until November 15, or until all available places have been filled.

“As a key meeting point between the Latin American audiovisual industry and the international market, Ventana Sur is a natural partner for this initiative. Together, we want to create new opportunities for Ibero-American producers to connect with their international counterparts and build lasting partnerships” stated Guillaume Esmiol, executive director of the Marché du Film

The new industry strand takes its name from the Río de la Plata practice of sharing mate, the popular South American infusion associated with informal gatherings and conversation.

“El mate is much more than a tradition in the Río de la Plata; it is a symbol of our culture, hospitality and the value of sharing. It brings people together, opens conversations and creates connections,” added Gisella Previtali, ACAU’s president.
