At Eastness, we recognize that every project is unique, requiring a tailored approach to fit its creative and logistical needs. Whether it’s a high-end commercial, a hybrid short, or an independent feature, we seamlessly adapt to bring each vision to life.
Our international team, shaped by diverse backgrounds and a deep artistic sensibility, allows us to anticipate challenges and proactively offer solutions across all formats. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of visual storytelling, we craft compelling narratives—whether within the structured world of commercial filmmaking or the experimental space of independent cinema.
Beyond production services, we’re expanding into developing and producing our own feature films, opening up new creative collaborations and deepening our role in the filmmaking process.
What services does Eastness provide?
With over a decade of experience in Southeast Asia, we’ve built a strong foundation in production services, combining technical expertise with deep local knowledge. Our experience across the region has taught us how to navigate complex productions while fostering seamless collaboration with culturally diverse teams.
What sets us apart is our ability to anticipate the unique needs of every project, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish. Our services cover every aspect of production, including budgeting, scheduling, location scouting, casting, styling, art direction (on-location and in-studio), equipment rental, catering, transportation, and more.
In addition to providing full production services, we’re expanding into feature film, documentary, and series production, drawing on our experience and network to support both local and international projects. Storytelling is at the heart of everything we do.
What specialist skill sets distinguishes Eastness from competition?
We’ve worked with some of the most demanding and visionary directors—from A-list filmmakers to emerging talent. Our ability to deeply understand a director’s creative vision and empathize with the artistic process sets us apart.
Beyond logistics, we bring a refined artistic sensibility, ensuring that everything from set design to casting aligns with a project's creative intent. We also have a strong track record in discovering unique locations that elevate a film’s visual language. Whether a story calls for an untouched hidden gem or a setting that mimics another part of the world, we make it happen with precision and creativity.
What are the recent developments you've seen impacting international productions?
Southeast Asia—especially Thailand—is quickly becoming a hub for high-end production, offering world-class facilities at highly competitive costs. From practical sets and sound stages to virtual LED and cyclorama studios, the infrastructure here is on par with global standards.
Thailand’s film crews are widely regarded as some of the best in the industry. Their professionalism, bilingual capabilities, and deep understanding of international production make for smooth and efficient collaborations.
The new production rebate now offers up to 30% back on qualifying expenses, with no cap—one of the most attractive incentives in the region. As a registered company with the Thai Film Office, we can help productions access these funds and navigate the process to maximize cost savings.
What is the most challenging element of a production that you have been part of, and how do you overcome those challenges?
One of the biggest challenges in production is staying adaptable when plans inevitably shift.
For instance, while working on two commercial films with director Romain Chassaing, we faced difficulties sourcing unique locations that matched his creative vision. Despite the logistical hurdles, we worked closely with him to refine the production design, ensuring both projects ran smoothly without compromising the artistic direction.
Another challenge we frequently navigate is bridging cultural differences between East and West. Clear communication and empathy are key—we ensure that all collaborators, from local crews to international directors, feel aligned and supported throughout the process.
What are the biggest differences between the types of productions that Eastness works on?
Every format requires a unique approach. Whether it’s a large-scale commercial, a hybrid short film, or an independent feature, we adapt seamlessly to both creative and logistical demands.
Production design and art direction are central to our work. These elements shape how we bring stories to life—whether working within the constraints of a commercial project or exploring the freedom of independent cinema.
Beyond providing full production services, we’re also producing our own feature films, allowing us to foster deeper creative collaborations and push the boundaries of storytelling.
What should international producers know about filming in Thaisland
Thailand offers an incredible variety of locations—urban cityscapes, beaches, jungles, national parks, and cutting-edge studio facilities. However, working with a reliable local production partner is crucial for navigating permits, weather considerations, and cultural nuances.
The country is production-friendly, with straightforward permitting processes and a well-established film industry. Rainy seasons vary across regions, so year-round shooting is possible with proper planning.
At the end of the day, we don’t just aim for a successful shoot—we want our collaborators to have an unforgettable and creatively fulfilling experience.
