South Africa-based Miss K Productions launches Qhakaza Producers Workshop 2025

South Africa based Miss K Productions, led by Khosie Dali, has launched the Qhakaza Producers Workshop 2025, designed to equip emerging South African producers based in Cape Town with the skills to step into leadership roles in the industry.

The workshop takes over ten days from June 2 – June 13, 2025 and will include sessions on production management, contracts, financing (including a dedicated session with a DTI expert), and international coproductions. Film festival programmers will also participate in live Q&As and pre-recorded presentations.

The workshop is supported by South Africa's National Film and Video Foundation.

Speakers taking part include Michael Murphey producer of District 9, Bongiwe Selane, producer of Happiness is a Four Letter Word, producer and presenter Salamina Mosese, Tapiwa Chipfupa, David Max Brown, and more.

Companies involved include Panavision SA, Panalux SA, Wesgro, Film SA, and Bertha House.

In a statement, Dali said: "Beyond knowledge sharing, the heart of the Qhakaza program is community — creating a nurturing and intentional space where emerging producers feel seen, supported, and empowered.

"We believe that growing a resilient and inclusive film industry begins with fostering meaningful connections and collective growth. Through the workshop, we are not only equipping young producers with tools and insights, but also cultivating a sense of belonging and purpose — reminding them that their voices, stories, and contributions matter."

Applications are now open. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, 21 May.
