'Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power' in production at UK's Shepperton Studios

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power has begun production the UK's Shepperton Studios, as Prime Video confirms new cast. 

Season two relocated from its original season one production home in New Zealand, filming instead at the UK’s Bray Film Studios, which Amazon bought in July 2024, and Bovingdon Airfield Studios.

A source close to the production said the idea was for season two film at Shepperton Studios, but the facility wasn't ready in time. Shepperton's expansion, completed in March 2024, includes 17 additional sound stages, expanding the total number to 31, 548,000 square feet of production and workshop spaces.

The third season of The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brändström. Matthew Penry-Davey is producer and Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee are co-producers.

Season three will have three directors each overseeing multiple episodes. Charlotte Brändström, who served as co-executive producer and directed multiple episodes in the first two seasons, returns as executive producer and director for the third season.

She is joined by returning director Sanaa Hamri and Stefan Schwartz, the British/Canadian film and TV director who has previously directed episodes of The Boys, The Americans and Luther and as well as features including Soft Top Hard Shoulder. 

The new additions to the cast include Canadian-born British theatre actor Andrew Richardson, stalwart British actor and singer Zubin Varla, British actor Adam Young, best known for playing Jim-Bob in the 2021 horror film Don’t Breathe. They join previously announced newcomer to the show, Eddie Marsan.
