Moldova set to join Creative Europe programme

Moldova is expected to start participating in Creative Europe, the EU programme supporting the film sector and culture, from January 1, 2026.

The European Commission has approved a provisional application for Moldova’s participation in the programme.

An agreement is scheduled to be signed on September 2, during EU commissioner for intergenerational fairness, youth, culture and sport Glenn Micallef’s visit to Moldova.

Once signed, it will apply provisionally, allowing Moldovan organisations to participate in Creative Europe.

Moldova’s full participation in the programme will depend on its national legislation complying with the EU’s Audiovisual Media Services Directive.

Creative Europe’s Media programme is the EU’s main support platform for the film industry, supporting cross-border distribution, sales, exhibitors, development, festivals and training.

Creative Europe has a €2.44bn ($2.66bn) budget for the seven years from 2021-27.
