Santa Monica Film Office launches

Film Santa Monica, created by the Santa Monica travel and tourism office, in coordination with the City of Santa Monica, will be coordinating Santa Monica film permits effective September 1, 2025. 

The office takes over from FilmLA for handling filming in the city. It will provide permitting guidance, location assistance, and on-the-ground support to ensure productions run smoothly while respecting the character of the community.

Film Santa Monica will further drive local economic impact, showcase the city’s locations, and elevate Santa Monica’s role as a destination for creative production.

Productions to film on location in Santa Monica include Warner Bros' Barbie, and iconic series and films such as Baywatch and Speed. 

Film Santa Monica will serve as a one-stop shop for filmmakers while helping generate economic benefits for local businesses and positioning the city on the global stage.
