Tomas Alfredson's ‘Seance On A Wet Afternoon' begins filming in UK

Tomas Alfredson’s Seance On A Wet Afternoon, starring Rachel Weisz and Matthew Macfadyen, has begun filming in the UK.

Succession star Macfadyen joins the previously announced Weisz. The film follows a self-proclaimed medium who convinces her husband to kidnap the son of a wealthy family in an effort to legitimise her psychic abilities.

Adolescence writer Jack Thorne penned the screenplay.

Seance On A Wet Afternoon is produced by Element Pictures and Astral Projection as part of the latter’s first-look and development deal with Fremantle. Film4 and Fremantle financed the film. Macfayden and Thorne are among the executive producers.

FilmNation Entertainment is handling international sales, with UTA and CAA Media Finance repping domestic rights.

Alfredson’s previous credits include the Bafta-winning Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Let The Right One In.
