Dobro Films on Poland's accessible locations and "bleeding-edge" technology

What is Dobro Films mission and ethos? What inspired you to set it up?

Our mission is to create memorable, high-quality productions that combine the human factor with bleeding-edge technology. We are a full-service creative production studio that stays with the idea from the first concept through production to the final result. We take on challenging projects and bring them to life. 

As part of the Platige Group, DOBRO was a natural evolution: bringing 25+ years of world-class post-production and VFX craft into live-action production, with a human-first philosophy where tech serves the vision, never the other way around. 

Our approach is hybrid by nature: live action, VFX, virtual production, motion capture, and generative AI all sit in the same toolkit. We reach for whatever serves the project best.

What international projects have you been working on recently, and what’s coming up for 2026?

Our recent international work includes delivered service productions for Xiaomitogether with LeBerg, as well as yet-unreleased projects made with Lief. We treat service production as a partnership with the main production company, offering our insight and the best possible talent to make the entire process seamless and high quality. 

For 2026, we are expanding our international service production offering while continuing to develop our hybrid production approach, where generative AI, virtual production, and traditional filmmaking work together as parts of one pipeline.

Which filming locations are proving popular at the moment and why?

Warsaw offers a remarkable range within a single city: modern western city chic (seen in our XTB Manifest campaign), post-industrial and post-Soviet textures, and historic architecture. This convergence of styles makes it a prime location for almost any production. 

On a bigger scale, Poland is a diverse country with scenic locations such as the marvelous lake country of Mazury, where pristine forest and crystal-clear water meet, and multiple mountain ranges including the Tatras. For the Porsche 911 Dakar RED58 Special campaign, we captured rally-grade desert without leaving the country. That kind of versatility is hard to match in Europe at this price point.

What should international producers know about filming in your Poland?

Poland offers world-class crews, diverse locations, and competitive costs, all within a two-hour flight from most European capitals. Proven by world-class creators like Tom Brown, who said: "I was blown away by DOBRO's detail-oriented process of pre-production and I will definitely try to emulate this DOBRO method in future projects." This makes filming in Poland not only accessible and cost-effective, but also seamless. You are in good hands.

What has been the most challenging element of a production you’ve been part of, and how do you overcome those challenges?

Working with world-class stars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Tyson Fury, and combining classic filmmaking techniques with bleeding-edge tech, poses unique challenges. For XTB we used AI-driven face replacement combined with carefully matched body doubles and multi-camera reference footage to create five Zlatans in a single shot. For the Manifest 2025 campaign, AI supported us at the concept stage while the production itself was full-scale live action. Reaching further back, landing a helicopter in central Warsaw for McDonald's demanded flawless coordination and uncompromising safety. 

We don't settle for easy. We take on projects others would call impossible, and we deliver them through months of meticulous preparation, experienced experts, and a team that runs on trust and heart. 

What are the biggest differences between feature/TV productions and commercial shoots?

One of the biggest differences is timing and the need for adjustability. At DOBRO we are able to estimate, organize, and run a moderately complicated set within a week. Commercial production, requires significant room for adjustments to fit clients' needs as well. Our way of work proves very effective when we settle most of the questions during preproduction, leaving nothing to chance on set. This is possible thanks to the skill and expertise of our scouts, producers, production managers, and the wonderful team behind DOBRO.

What does Dobro Films offer that sets it apart from other production service companies in your locations?

We are part of the Platige Image Group, which gives us access to motion capture, animation, LED virtual production stages, Unreal Engine workflows, sound design, and a full post-production pipeline. 

No other production company in Poland has this combined 360-degree capability under one roof. Generative AI is part of that toolkit too, but it is one step in the process, not the process itself. We use it alongside live action, VFX, and virtual production to amplify what our people can do. 

We are also one of the first studios in Poland to measure the carbon footprint of our productions with a dedicated Green Production Coordinator.

What about filming in your locations has changed since Dobro Films opened?

DOBRO has been around for almost a decade. A lot has changed: some formats died out for cost reasons, some new doors opened because of tech-driven possibilities. We are adapting, and we are good at it.

What advice would you give to international producers wanting to work with Dobro Films or film in your Poland?

Poland has some of the best film crews in Europe, stunning and diverse scenery, and it is just a short flight from anywhere on the continent. All at a fraction of Western European production costs. Our job is to make the process seamless: we guide you through every step so you can focus on the creative while we handle the rest.
