Gavin Leatherwood joins ‘It Happened One Summer' with filming underway in NYC

Gavin Leatherwood, star of Netflix series Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, has joined the cast of It Happened One Summer as production gets underway in New York.

Peter Hutchings directs the adaptation of the first instalment in Tessa Bailey’s Bellinger Sisters romance book series, which has become a hit on TikTok subcommunity BookTok, and sold two million copies in the US.

Leatherwood joins the previously announced cast of Nina Dobrev, Tyler Hoechlin and Virginia Gardner. Embankment reps world sales. 

The story revolves around a glamorous LA ‘it girl’, whose world comes crashing down after a viral mishap gets her cancelled overnight. She is exiled to a rugged fishing town with an ultimatum: fix up her late father’s dive bar – or lose everything.

Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady produce for To Leslie US company BCDF Pictures. Christina Mengert, who previously worked with Hutchings on his 2021 film The Hating Game, has written the script with Joseph Muszynski.
