Yvan Attal’s Projet K (working title) starring Diane Kruger, Dany Boon and Tim Roth has started filming in France, Belgium and Bolivia for Netflix.
The majority French-language feature is based on the true story of French-German husband and wife Serge and Beate Klarsfeld. It tracks their decade-long pursuit of Gestapo head Klaus Barbie, the notorious ‘Butcher Of Lyon’, before they track him down in Bolivia, leading to his 1983 extradition and trial in France. Kruger and Boon play the unlikely heroic pair of a German woman and a French Jewish man, and Roth will play Barbie.
The film is produced by Antoine Pezet and Jérôme Corcos for France’s NAC Films alongside Attal via his production company Films Sous Influence. Attal also wrote the script with Laurent Turner.
Netflix’s French film slate includes Tristan Seguela’s The Good Lawyer, playing out of competition at the Venice Film Festival. A sequel to Ad Vitam, which has the working title Ad Vitam Eternam and stars Guillaume Canet, and shark thriller Under Paris 2 are now both in production.
