The MBS Group, which recently closed a deal to run Saudi Arabia’s AlUla Studios, will run the historic studios home to ‘The Crown’

The UK’s historic Elstree Studios has entered into a partnership with The MBS Group to operate and service the site, in collaboration with Hertsmere Borough Council.
Elstree’s 13-acre site offers nine sound stages, ancillary spaces, and a versatile backlot. Recent productions to film at Elstree include Sky’s Gangs Of London series, BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, and Netflix’sThe Crown.
Jason Hariton, chief studio and real estate officer at The MBS Group and former head of global real estate and production operations for Netflix, previously worked with Elstree Studios on The Crown.
The MBS Group’s global network of 50 facilities around the world includes sites such as Manhattan Beach Studios – the company’s namesake and home to the blockbuster Avatar films – Amazon’s Culver Studios, Netflix’s Raleigh Studios, Radford Studio Center, Kaufman Astoria Studios, Eastbrook Studios London, Vancouver Film Studios, and Ardmore Studios Ireland.
It recently struck a deal to run Saudi Arabia’s AlUla Studios, marking the group’s first foray into the MENA region.
In a statement, Hariton said The MBS Group would “help propel Elstree into its second century.”
Councillor Jeremy Newmark, leader of Hertsmere Borough Council and chair of the board of Elstree Film Studios, said: “This new collaboration with MBS unites two iconic studio companies to safeguard Elstree’s place as a home for both local and global content creators.”
The announcement was made to tie in with the iconic studios’ centenary celebrations.
