Pixomondo, the virtual production and VFX studio behind HBO's House of the Dragon, Lionsgate's John Wick: Chapter 4, and Netflix's 3 Body Problem, is launching an LED Volume virtual production studio in Vancouver, Canada.

Located in suburban Langley, British Columbia, the virtual production soundstage wasbuilt by PXO’s specialised LED Volume division PXO Clara, and combines the Sony Electronics’ next-gen Verona LED panels with PXO’s proprietary tools.

The soundstage will open on May 26 and measures 50 feet in diameter, 23 feet tall, with a 14 foot deep semi-circle. Its LED ceiling is mounted on a gantry system, enabling rapid lighting transitions, and two mobile wild walls, measuring 20 feet wide and 16.5 feet tall, engineered with a ground-hover system for quick repositioning.

The stage also features PXO AKIRA, a vehicle-processing ecosystem that includes a motion platform with unlimited yaw, independent suspension, and a robotic camera crane synchronised with the LED wall to ensure a seamless blend of 3D elements and 2D content.

The system also features a digital twin software suite, offering full pre-visualisation, real-time stage control, and centralised management.

Pixomondo is a subsidiary of Sony, and currently operates virtual production and VFX studios elsewhere in Canada, the USA, Germany, and UK.
