Amazon MGM Studios in France has hired Guillaume Colboc as its head of original scripted and films.

He will work under Thomas Dubois, head of Amazon MGM Studios in France and Japan, and joins following the exit of Elsa Rodde, who left the role to become director of series at Netflix in March.

Colboc comes from a long career in production, most recently at Gaumont where he had been development director since 2019.

During his six years with the company, he worked on titles including Olivier Marchal’s 2025 Netflix film Bastion 36 and the director’s 2022 feature Overdose for Prime Video.

He was also behind Lucas Bernard’s 2024 feature In The Sub For Love and Clement Michel’s 2023 film Christmas Unplanned.

Colboc began his career developing films with Mathieu Kassovitz such as Gothika and Babylon AD, before founding his own production company - Section 9 - in 2010.

The move comes as Prime Video continues to amp up its originals slate, which has previously included scripted series ranging from Paris riots drama Ourika to Mixte (aka Voltaire High) and Salade Grecque.

Upcoming projects include Rebecca Zlotowski’s Glamsquad, a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the world of cinema and luxury that she will direct, and Yael Langmann’s series Culte: 2Be3, which is about the titular 90s French boys band. Amazon said today that the show will be released on 24 October.

Colboc’s appointment marks the latest addition for Amazon MGM Studios following a series of changes across its senior ranks over recent months.

International originals chief James Farrell exited after more than a decade at the company in February, followed by chief Jen Salke less than a month later. Kelly Day took on Salke’s international oversight, with former Paramount exec Nicole Clemens drafted in to take on Farrell’s responsibilities.
