Production Service Network has launched a branch in Japan

Its roster includes Satch Watanabe whose credits include Apple TV+ series Drops of God and HBO Max series Tokyo Vice; Masanori ”Masa” Aikawa who also worked on Tokyo Vice; and Motoo Hahn who has worked on commercial production, music videos, and graphic design in Los Angeles, Sydney, Hawaii and Tokyo.

In the last several years, Japan has sought to boost its appeal to international producers with the introduction of the location incentive program, administered by the Visual Industry Promotion Organisation (VIPO) and the Japan Film Commission.

The program provides a cash rebate of up to 50% on qualifying expenses in Japan, with a maximum reimbursement of ¥1 billion (approx. USD 6.8 million). Projects must be intended for international release in ten or more countries and are expected to feature Japanese locations and contribute to local employment and culture.

Recent projects to take advantage of the incentive include A24's The Smashing Machine starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, Indian romantic drama One Day, produced by Aamir Khan; and Searchlight's Brendan Fraser vehicle Rental Family.

Production Service Network is a curated community of production service companies world wide, with branches in over 40 countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific, America, Africa, and the Middle East.
