India Amarteifio joins Ruth Madeley in BBC drama 'The Rapture'

Filming is underway in Wales on The Rapture, written by Bryony Kimmings and Rebecca Manley, and directed by Eva Sigurđardóttir and Jennifer Perrott for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

India Amarteifio joins Ruth Madeley to star, alongside Sam Hazeldine, Jack Farthing, Iwan Rheon, and Siena Kelly, with Ruth Jones.

The series is adapted from Liz Jensen’s novel following forensic psychologist Gabs Fox (Madeley) who starts a new job at a high-security psychiatric hospital where she meets 17-year-old Bethany Krall (Amarteifio). Bethany, convicted of murdering her mother, is estranged from her father Leonard (Hazeldine) the charismatic leader of an influential religious movement. She claims she is innocent and believes she has psychic powers to predict the future. Gabs is tasked with deciding whether to believe her, and figuring out who killed Bethany's mother.

The Rapture is a Mammoth Screen production for BBC iPlayer and BBC One. Producers are by Betsan Morris Evans and Joanna Crow. Mammoth’s creative director Rebecca Keane has overseen the development of the series. The executive producers are Rebecca Durbin, Tom Leggett, Ruth Madeley and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen and Danielle Scott Haughton for the BBC.
